Guesthouse

At the beginning we tried to answer the question: what are the essentials of a guesthouse?

First of all, it should be a cosy place with pleasant and relaxing atmosphere; secondly, it should serve fine food & drink; thirdly, its guests should enjoy a warm welcome, a friendly service and finally a friendly farewell, so that – fourthly - on their way home, they would feel a kind of nostalgia which would soon lead them back to that fine and hospitable place.

Welcome to Gasthaus Richisau, 1100 meters above sea-level!

Gasthaus Richisau was newly built in 1987. It is an uncompromising example of modern Alpine architecture, a three-nave chalet, an extraordinary guesthouse on a special alp where art and nature meet in an unobtrusive, quiet way. Its striking profile together with the colours of red – white – gray gives it an indisputably singular character. The building comprises a restaurant with three cosy rooms, a charming garden, a hotel and a hostel with a total of 52 beds, and stays open throughout the summer season from April till October.

All those who wish to stop off and stay at a special place are most welcome: people from the Glarus region, day-trippers with or without car, mountain hikers, bikers, groups, clubs and associations, tranquillity-seeking holidaymakers...
